John: In the morning assembly, Mr. Iu shared the story about Mr. Nick Vujicic. Many of you may know who he is. Everytime when I am told that how great challenges he was facing in life while he is still honoring the Lord, I feel my faith is so weak and I should be stronger when coming across obstacles. In mathematics, there are something like “proof without words”, similarly, there are actually many vivid stories of Christians acting as the “proof”:

At the beginning, I think the game can be solved easily, but it is out of my expectation. If there are lessons, I think it will be better to give you much time to try. When it comes to teaching, I think my performance was the poorest! I need to practice many and many! Lo asked me when to teach M2, well, after catching up with the teaching schedule of other classes, then I will start, be patient!

John: During the morning assembly, brother Joseph talked about “presence”, one of the distinctive educational style of Marist education, and I do hope it is applicable to your learning and even your life.
It is very interesting to hear some students expressing their ideas on the proof that “zero cannot be a denominator” in the mathematics lesson today. Honestly, it is not easy. Also, I’d just shown a proof of the irrationality of in class, some students had shown their understanding and appreciation of mathematics. It is quite interesting. But I know some of you had questions on that, feel free to ask and discuss.

John: Remember the way of finding the pattern of (where

But, actually, I found that the atomsphere of discussing mathematics was not very well. I think I need to create something suitable to let you express more ideas on your own. John: In the first mathematics lesson, I just gave a worksheet on factorization. While students were doing the worksheet, I was collecting $65. Then we discussed some basic concepts, like, what is factorization? what is a polynomial? is zero a non-negative integer? Some students took part in discussion and showed their interest.

I had posted the following message on my facebook note about a new system: test week, please have a look:
中四同學,來年取消一個 cycle 一次的 Regular Test,取而代之是 Test week。
分數比重:
一如以往,兩個學期的考試比重是四六分賬,即,假設全年總考試分為 100,
上學期考試總分是 40 分
下學考試期總分是 60 分
至於 Test Week 取得的分數,濟記政策是
各佔全年總分的 10%,即
上學期測驗總分 = 10 分
下學期測驗總分 = 10 分
故此
上學期測驗總分是上學期考試總分的 (10/40) * 100% = 25%
下學期測驗總分是下學期考試總分的 (10/60) * 100% = 16.7%(取小數點後一位)
另外,關於進展性評估(formative assessment),濟記政策是
非大考分數(即測驗分數 + 進展性評估分數,比如 project,HW etc)最多佔該學期的 30%
即是說
上學期進展性評估分數最多佔上學期考試分數的 30% – 25% = 5%
下學期進展性評估分數最多佔下學期考試分數的 30% – 16.7% = 13.3%
那麼,假設全年總考試分為 100,進展性評估分數最多是多少?
因上學期考試總分是 40 分,故上學期進展性評估分數最多是 40*5% = 2 分
因下學考試期總分是 60 分,故下學期進展性評估分數最多是 60*13.3% = 8 分
