[FW] 物理奧賽獲獎 中四生創紀錄 本港參賽7年來最年幼得獎者 5港生獲1金1銀3銅

參與第41屆國際物理奧林匹克的香港代表隊昨從克羅地亞凱旋返港，5位港生從82個國家、共410位參賽者中脫穎而出，共奪得1金1銀3銅。其中，於聖保羅男女中學就讀中四的盧安迪勇奪銀牌，成為本港參賽7年來，年紀最小的港隊代表及得獎者。今年亦是繼04、05、08及09年後，本港代表第5度奪金；金牌得主馬向辰於聖言中學就讀中六，憑對物理的濃厚興趣及天份，成為比賽中35位金牌得主之一。

If you worked for a mining company the following might be a typical problem:

There are two intersecting mine shafts that meet at an angle of 123, as shown in the figure above. The straight shaft has a width of 7 feet, while the entrance shaft is 9 feet wide. What is the longest ladder that can be negotiate the turn? You can neglect the thickness of the ladder members, and assume it is not tipped as it is maneuvered around the corner. Your solution should provide for the general case in which the angle, A, is a variable, as well as the widths of the shafts.

[FW] 港中學生擬題 首獲奧數「徵用」

港生數學表現再次揚威國際，一名即將升讀科技大學數學系的中七生戴煒銘，提交予國際數學奧林匹克委員會（奧數）的數學難題，獲選為本年比賽試題之一，有關試題向來主要由大學學者或大學生草擬，此乃首次有本港中學生設計的考題獲選；此外，6名港生今屆賽事共奪1金2銀3銅，其中皇仁書院學生程德永更是年內第3度奪金。
